Ok, so November wasn't exactly a complete success, but it wasn't a complete failure either. We did get up at least one piece of original writing for each of the 30 days of November, but it took us an extra week. I'd say that's pretty good. For December, the obvious choice for the month is Christmas, so we're going with it. This month we have no strict rules about post times or content. As long as it relates to Christmas in some way it counts.
Christmas week 1: Last night we made the best chocolate walnut biscotti EVER. Here is the recipe.
- 2 cups flour
- 1/2 cup cocoa powder
- 1 tsp baking soda
- 1 tsp salt
- 3/4 stick butter
- 1 cup sugar
- 2 eggs
- 1 cup walnuts
- 3/4 cup chocolate chips
Preheat oven to 350F.
Butter and flour a large baking sheet.
In a bowl beat butter, sugar and eggs. Stir in flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt to form a stiff dough. Stir in walnuts and chocolate chips.
On baking sheet form dough into 2 slightly flattened logs, each ~12 inches long and 2 inches wide. Bake for 35 minutes. Cool on baking sheet ~5 minutes. On a cutting board, cut biscotti diagonally into 3/4 inch slices. Arrange on baking sheet with cut sides down and bake until crisp, about 10 minutes.
Hide from roommates.
